I knew I would spend Christmas Eve all by myself since Chris’s Christmas present to me was a room at Le Meridien Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Golf Resort and Spa

And since I was alone, that meant I would be eating dinner alone, too.

So how did it go?

I made a reservation at Favola, an Italian restaurant located on the ground floor of Le Meridien. It was around 9 pm when I arrived. Two couples occupied the other tables. The setting was romantic: dim lights, cold breeze, a nice view of the golf course. The only thing was, I was alone.

The staff took good care of me anyway. Two gorgeous servers assisted me and made sure they were looking after my needs.

The servers filled my glass with water and I couldn’t help noticing how well-dressed they were. They were neat, good looking, and constantly smiling.

For the starter, I had four slices of freshly baked bread with butter on the side. It quickly filled me up. I’m a big fan of bread, and whatever time of the day, I could eat a few slices or loaves.

Then I ordered a glass of red wine. I’m also a fan of red wines. White wine, on the other hand, seems to be not my thing.

A few moments later, one of the servers came to me.

“Salmon, ma’am?”

Gulp! Salmon?

My mind was froze.

Oh no! I don’t eat salmon!

I stared at the pinkish fresh meat fish topped with whipped cream on my plate.  It looked tasty; I should give it a try.

The salmon tasted so good that I almost asked for more. There was one problem, though. The whipped cream had wasabi in it! I downed my red wine to drown the taste of wasabi.

The main course was fish called Seabass Confit in “Frontollo Preto” extra virgin olive oil with edible flowers. The fish was familiar to me, but I didn’t know how it was cooked. It was probably an Italian dish (well, yes, of course).

And the desert that I was waiting for!

Italian isn’t my all-time favorite cuisine, but I loved the food at Favola. Devouring my meal that night opened my mind and palate to a whole new world of tastes.

I finished my romantic dinner at a little past 10 and went back to my cozy room. Besides the food, another remarkable thing about Favola is the staff who never failed to amaze me.

Thirteen days later from December 23, I went back to Favola for another romantic dinner, this time, with my partner, Chris. I told him all the good things about the restaurant that kept him excited for the experience.

No surprise, he loved it more than I did. He loved how cozy and elegant the restaurant is. We were also invited to the cheese room where we had a taste of five cheese varieties that we had that night!

We loved how the food was meticulously served, plated in perfection. Favola is the perfect restaurant for family gatherings, dinner for two, or someone just wanting to dine in alone.

Kudos to Favola’s chefs and staff. In all honesty, I’d never experienced that level of warmness and hospitality before. What made it extra excellent was the erudite staff, as they knew exactly the best kind of food that you would enjoy. They also exhibited professionalism in serving us.

It’s fascinating how they pay extra attention to each meal and to the service they provide. I could not recall a single moment that the place disappointed us.

Here’s your guide on what to order.

The fact that Favola is an Italian Restaurant, expect to have varieties of Italian food that’s freshly and scrupulously served on your table by the amazing chefs.

Looks like you had a good time twice over. What a thoughtful gift by Chris – congratulations. I love Italian food both for taste and for the fact that they have ample options for vegetarians and you can always ask them to add more vegetables.

I love how the staff took good care of you, dining alone can be awkward if the staff don’t know how to deal with it! The food looks delicious, although I’m not a fan of wasabi either! The cheese room you both went to sounds much more my style, yum!

Wow, the food at Fevola looks amazing. It must have felt strange eating Italian in an Asian country. I must keep it in mind for a trip to Bangkok.

The food looks so good and that dessert is my favorite from this post. Was it rose flavour? The decor looks so inviting and looks like the atmosphere at night is much better than day.

  • The fact that you went back again goes to prove how good the restaurant is!
I liked the items that came in one after another, I am a big fan of fish dishes.

You must really love Favola Restaurant to have gone back 3 times. Like seriously, they need to sponsor your 4th visit. I’ll also fall in love with the restaurant; reading your review, Favola is my type of restaurant. I don’t take Salmons too but that one looks delicious. I’m yet to find a restaurant that will pull me back like Favola did to you. And Chris sure know how to apologise for the distance. He made the right choice.

  • Seems like you had that perfect date. The dishes no doubt look amazing and by your description taste perfect. What I am taken in by are the interiors of the place. Definitely very classy.

Favola looks like a perfect place for a quiet and romantic dinner. The fact that it is Italian cuisine and you are served by immaculately dressed and smiling staff would only add on to the experience. We are fans of Italian food like Pizzas, Paninis, and Pasta, but of course our options are not that wide as we are vegetarians.

Good that Chris could catch up with favola (and you!) some days later after your first try. All the food on the pictures look delicious and even if I am not that into desserts I would eat two of that one! Was the wine good? I guess so . . Good finding!

I’m with you on the following: Salmon? Yes! Wasabi? No! However, I would swap the glass of red for a white. As horrible as it sounds to be spending Christmas Eve on your own, I guess there could be worst places than Favola at the Le Meridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort and Spa. Nice that you still got to share a meal there with Chris later.

Seabass confit? Yes please! I am personally not the biggest fan of Italian food myself but the pictures do make me feel like I want to grab the things and taste them. Sounds like you found a great place!

Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a romantic dinner to yourself – I quite enjoy the alone time sometimes 🙂 Glad you enjoyed your dinner at Favola, and that you got back with Chris later on 🙂 Isn’t salmon the best! Glad you tried it – I probably wouldn’t have been too much of a fan of wasabi either though. You look gorgeous by the way – love the outfit!
